At Netherton Moss we work extremely hard to ensure children are safe and happy within our school and are benefitting from all the educational and enrichment opportunities we provide. An essential part of this is every child’s punctuality and attendance.  Children need to be ‘In school, On time, Every day!’ Every child and parent/carer have a part to play, as well as every member of staff, in making sure that we have excellent standards for attendance and punctuality. We have high expectations for all of our pupils and that starts with attendance. 

As part of this work we want everyone to see poor attendance and punctuality as time lost to a child’s learning journey. Indeed, each and every day in school the children will have between 5 and 6 different lessons during which they will engage in our exciting curriculum, even just a few minutes of lateness can have a negative impact upon the effectiveness of the teaching.

This year we are starting a new attendance campaign which highlights to everyone the fact that ‘We can’t teach an EMPTY SEAT!’. The children are going to be learning about this in school and communications with the school community will illustrate this important message.
